Trip Around the World / Grandma's Square 1890-1910
1890-1910. 66x74. Found in Illinois, USA. This is an excellent turn-of-the-century quilt. Grandma's Square (Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia). All cotton colors of chrome orange, burgundy, navy, red and light prints have been hand pieced. The binding on two sides is chrome orange and is off white on the third side. The fourth side is knife edged. The backing is white with initials of "V.E.W." stitched into one corner. There is a light batting, and the quilting is 8st/in in very regular diagonals.
