Four Color Double Woven Coverlet 1838
1838. 78x90. From the Browning Mansion/Museum, Galesburg, IL, USA. Another excellent piece of American history. Inscriptions are on the bottom left and right "REBECCA BURNS 1838" and on the bottom border "D. ARNOLD.H? and +CHAMB.G". The field of the piece consists of four roses and four lilies plus small sunbursts. The first of two borders is a vine with interrupted chains of diamonds, and the second border consists of double stars. There is a seam, but no fringe. The top had a woven applied tape but it is worn off and there is some wear at the top along with light staining. The coverlet is in very good condition.
-Item is pictured on a modern size queen bed.
